Work permits are not required for all foreign nationals who have free access to the Polish labor market, which means they are treated similarly to Polish citizens in the labor market. This freedom applies to EU citizens, EEA citizens (NO, IS, LI), Swiss citizens, and UK citizens—beneficiaries of Brexit—as well as certain members of their families. Full access to the labor market is also granted to third-country nationals and stateless persons who hold a residence permit issued for an indefinite period (e.g., permanent residence, long-term EU resident, refugee status) or whose specific family or legal situation allows them to reside in Poland and work without a permit (e.g., spouses of Polish citizens who have been granted a temporary residence permit on the basis of marriage). The regulations provide for a number of exceptions to the requirement to hold a work permit.
