Crossing the border by crew members of seagoing vessels to disembark and stay in a Polish seaport

Foreigners who are members of the crews of seagoing ships arriving at Polish seaports, crossing the border to disembark and stay within the boundaries of the port city and municipalities bordering it are exempt from the obligation to have visas during the ship's stay in the port.

Example: In the case of a seagoing ship docking at Gdansk, crew members may move around the territory of Gdansk, Sopot, Pruszcz Gdański, Stegna, Cedry Wielkie, Kolbudy Górne and Żukowo rural municipalities, but not within the territory of Gdynia and Żukowo.

Authorisation of entry under Article 6(5) letter c of the Schengen Borders Code

Article 32 of the Act on Foreigners allows the commander of the Border Guard post, after obtaining the consent of the Commander-in-Chief of the Border Guard, to grant a foreigner permission to enter the territory of the Republic of Poland for humanitarian reasons, for reasons of interest in family or international obligations, for a period of stay not longer than 15 days, if the foreigner does not meet the conditions of entry . Where another Schengen State has issued an alert in respect of such a foreigner for the purposes of refusing entry and stay, it shall be informed of the granting of such authorisation.
