Select this purpose of stay in the application, if you are a medium or low-skilled worker and intend to perform work in Poland, which is not seasonal work, and performing this work justifies your stay in Poland

Remember that in the case where you are running a business in Poland or are staying, among others, on the basis of a visa issued for tourism purposes, the proceedings for granting a permit for the purpose of performing work will not be initiated (i.e. cannot be conducted).

You are a highly qualified worker if you have higher education or at least 5 years


Wybierz ten cel pobytu we wniosku, if you are a highly qualified worker and intend to perform specialist work (e.g. a programmer, a manager, etc.), and the remuneration you will receive for this work exceeds (in simplified terms) 150% of the national average wage. The purpose of stay must justify residing in Poland for a period longer than 3 months.

In the case where you are staying in Poland, among others, on the basis of a visa issued for tourism purposes, the proceedings for granting a permit due to the purpose of working in a profession requiring high qualifications will not be initiated (i.e. may not be conducted).

Select this purpose of stay in the application, if you have already been admitted as a highly qualified worker in another EU Member State (i.e. you have a residence permit "EU Blue Card") and you currently intend to reside in Poland in order to perform work here that requires high qualifications or skills. 

To obtain a residence permit for this purpose,the amount of remuneration you will receive should exceed (in simple terms) 150% of the national average wage,and the period of residence in another Member State on the basis of the Blue Card, which immediately precedes your arrival in Poland, should be longer than 12 months (or 6 months - if you have already benefited from long-term mobility in another EU Member State). The work objective must justify your residence in Poland for a period longer than 3 months.

  If you have resided in another EU country for a shorter period than required, check whether you meet the requirements to be granted a"Temporary residence permits for the purpose of working in a highly qualified occupation".because a "Temporary residence permit for long-term mobility of an EU Blue Card holder" cannot be granted to you. If so - select the purpose of stay: "Pursuit of highly qualified employment" to apply for this permit. 

If you do not meet the other conditions and you intend to perform work in Poland that is not seasonal work, select 'Performing work' as the purpose of your stay or consider applying for a permit for a purpose other than performing work, if any (e.g. because of your marriage).

Select this purpose of stay in the application, if you are working permanently in your country of origin or permanent residence and you have been referred by an employer established outside Poland, to perform official duties in Poland for a certain period of time, in connection with the performance of work here or in connection  with the performance of a service of an occasional or temporary nature. The transfer to perform duties in Poland must justify a stay of more than 3 months.

Check whether you are eligible to have a permit granted to you for this purpose(Temporary residence permit to perform work by a foreigner posted by a foreign employer on the territory of the Republic of Poland).

Select this purpose of stay in the application, if:

  • you conduct sole proprietorship business activity (self-employment) or in the form of a company established by you in Poland limited partnership, limited joint-stock partnership, limited liability company or joint-stock company, also in the case of joining such a company or acquiring shares or stocks of the company.

  • you intend to work in Poland by serving a managerial function in a company with limited liability or a joint-stock company that was founded by you or whose shares were subscribed or acquired by you, or management of a limited partnership or limited joint-stock partnership by a general partner, or acting as a proxy/attorney.

The purpose of stay must justify residing in Poland for a period longer than 3 months.

Select this purpose of stay in the application if you are starting or continuing full-time studies(i.e. full-time) first-cycle, second-cycle or long-cycle studiesor you are studying at a doctoral school.Also, if you are a citizen of Belarus and you start a course to prepare for such studies.

Training must take placeat a university that has been approved by the Minister of competent for internal affairs or in respect of whom a decision prohibiting the admission of foreigners has not been issued, unless they are subject to approval - otherwise a temporary residence permit for the purposes of study cannot be granted.

 

Specialised courses, e.g. MBA, part-time studies or postgraduate studies, even if these studies are pursued on a full-time basis at a university, are not studies.

If you are taking an education in such studies, choose as the main purpose of your stay: "Other circumstances" and indicate the Science (e.g. postgraduate studies) as justification for stays of more than 3 months.


Check whether you qualify for a permit to be granted for this purpose (Temporary residence permit for study purposes).

Select this purpose of residency in your application if you hold a Master's degree (or equivalent) andyou intend to carry out research or development work in an academic unit established in Poland, which has beenapproved by the ministercompetent for home affairs. The conduct of research or development work must justify a stay of more than 3 months.

  If you have beenalready admitted as a researcher in another EU country (i.e. you have a residence permit or a long-stay visa with the annotation 'scientist') and you intend to carry out only part of your research/development work in Poland, for a period longer than 180 days but not exceeding 360 days, thenthe appropriate target of choice is "Long-term mobility of a researcher"and not - 'Conducting research or development'.


Check whether you are eligible for a permit to be granted for this purpose (Temporary residence permit for the purpose of scientific research).

 

Select this purpose of stay in the application if you have already been admitted as a researcher in another EU country (i.e. you hold a residence permit or a long-stay visa with the indication 'researcher') andyou intend to carry out only part of your research/development work in Poland, for longer than 180 days,but not longer than the period of validity of this document or visa, and carrying out this work is your main purpose of staying in Poland.

Check whether you qualify for a permit to be granted for this purpose (Temporary residence permit for long-term mobility of a researcher).

Choose this purpose of stay if you have completed higher education within the last 2 years or are still studying outside the EU and you intend to stay in Poland to complete an internship with an approved internship provider by the minister responsible for internal affairs. 

An internship in the Aliens Act means the performance of tasks, ordered by the internship organiser, which do not constitute work. These tasks are performed in order for the foreigner to acquire knowledge, practical skills and professional experience appropriate to the field and level of studies completed or being completed.

 

  Remember that, among other things, if you have in PolandBlue Card or ICT authorisation granted as a trainee employee, then theproceedings for a temporary residence permit for a trainee cannot be initiated.In this situation, if you also have another purpose of residence in Poland, indicate this purpose of residence in your application.

Select this purpose of stay, if you intend to stay in Poland as a volunteer.

Within the meaning of the Foreigners Act, a volunteer is a foreigner who, on his own initiative and without remuneration, with the exception of reimbursement of costs or payment of pocket money, participates in a European volunteering programme. Within this volunteering, he performs certain tasks for a unit that has been approved by the minister competent for internal affairs.

 

  Among other things, if you hold a Blue Card permit or a temporary residence permit for work under an intra-company transfer granted to you as a trainee employee, proceedings for a temporary residence permit for a volunteer cannot be initiated. In such a situation, if you also have another purpose of stay in Poland, indicate that purpose in the application.

  Marriage to a Polish citizen / Widowhood / Divorce / Separation

Select this objective in the application if:

  • you are married to a citizen of the Republic of Poland in a marriage recognised by law, the marriage is not one of convenience and it justifies your stay in Poland for more than 3 months. 
  • you are staying in Poland on the basis of a temporary residence permit for the purpose of residing with a Polish citizen - choose this purpose also in the case of widowhood and, if there is an important interest in doing so, also in the case of divorce or separation.

If you are only formally married and this circumstance does not in fact justify your stay in Poland, then indicate a purpose other than staying with a Polish citizen, if such a purpose exists (e.g. work).

  A union not recognised by the law of the Republic of Poland 

Select this objective in the application if:

  • you have a family life within the meaning of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, drawn up in Rome on 4 November 1950, with a citizen of the Republic of Poland residing in Poland (if you are the partner of a citizen of the Republic of Poland or you are in a marriage not recognised by the law of the Republic of Poland, including a same-sex partnership) and you are residing in Poland illegally.

  Minor child of the spouse of a Polish citizen

Select this objective in the application if:

  • the permit is to be granted to a minor child of a foreigner who is the spouse of a Polish citizen holding a temporary residence permit for a family member of a Polish citizen or a permanent residence permit granted on the grounds of being married to a Polish citizen.

 Other family members

Select this purpose of stay in the application, if applicable:

  • a child or stepchild of a Polish citizen under 21 years of age or who is dependent on a Polish citizen or his/her spouse, or
  • a parent or step-parent of a Polish citizen who is dependent on the Polish citizen or his/her spouse

 -if that Polish citizen is resident in Poland and regularly moves to another EU country to work, and the absence of this permit would prevent him from exercising his freedom of movement (Article 158a).

You may also apply for a permit as a family member of a Polish citizen residing jointly with that citizen in Poland due to financial dependence on him or her, or remaining in a household with him or her, in the country from which you came, or serious health reasons requiring personal care from that citizen (Article 160).

 

 

 Family reunification

Select this objective in the application if:

  •  under the family reunification procedure you will join or stay as a family member with a foreigner who is living in Poland on a specific basis (e.g. permanent residence permit, residence permit for a long-term EU resident, in connection with being granted refugee status or subsidiary protection).

  Family reunification
Select this purpose of stay in the application in the case of a minor child of an alien who is staying in the territory of the Republic of Poland on the basis of a national visa or temporary residence permit, if the child was born in Poland during the period of validity of that national visa or temporary residence permit -click and find out more. 

 

  Member of the EU citizen's extended family

Choose this purpose if you intend to apply for a temporary residence permit as a family member of a citizen of the European Union, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Switzerland exercising freedom of movement on the territory of the Republic of Poland. You may be granted a permit for this purpose if you are staying together with that citizen in Poland due to financial dependence on him/her or being in a household with him/her, in the country from which you came or due to serious health reasons requiring personal care from that citizen -.click and find out more. 

However, if you are:

  • the spouse of an EU citizen or of one of the above-mentioned countries,
  • you are the child or stepchild of an EU citizen or of one of the abovementioned countries under 21 years of age or, although over 21 years of age, you are dependent on that citizen
  • a parent or father-in-law of an EU citizen or of one of the above-mentioned countries

- remember that a temporary residence permit based on the above mentioned purpose of stay cannot be granted to you, as the provisions on obtaining a residence card apply in your situation -click and find out more. 

 

  Other circumstances

Choose this target also if:

  • you are staying in Poland illegally and have family life within the meaning of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, drawn up in Rome on 4 November 1950, with a citizen of the European Union, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Switzerland residing in Poland (i.e. if, for example, you are a partner or you are in a marriage not recognised under Polish law, including a same-sex relationship, with such a person).

 

Select this purpose of stay if, during your stay in Poland, you intend as a family member to accompany a researcher who is using or intends to use of the researcher in the territory of the Republic of Poland.

Check whether you qualify for the permit to be granted due to this purpose (Temporary residence permit for the purpose of long-term mobility of a researcher's family member).

Select this purpose of stay, if you hold a certificate confirming the presumption that you are a victim of human trafficking, issued by the prosecutor in connection with ongoing criminal proceedings regarding human trafficking, you severed contacts with persons suspected of committing the crime of human trafficking and you cooperate with the authority in these proceedings.

Select this purpose, if:

  • you are required to appear in person before a Polish public authority (e.g. before a court in connection with proceedings in which you have the status of accused/defendant/witness/victim, and your presence in Poland is required due to those proceedings);
  • this is required by an exceptional personal situation (e.g. you are hospitalised or a close family member is undergoing treatment and requires your personal care, which prevents you from returning to your home country)
  • presence in Poland is required by the interests of the Republic of Poland,

- especially if there are no circumstances justifying your stay in Poland for a period longer than 3 months or/and if you already have a temporary residence permit granted due to circumstances requiring a short-term stay.

Select this purpose of stay if you entered Poland on the basis of a visa issued for the purpose of performing work on the basis of a seasonal work permit or within the visa-free regime, in connection with an employer's application entered by the district head in the register of applications for seasonal work, and you intend to continue your stay for the purpose of performing seasonal work for the existing employer
